How To Paint Your Paint By Number Kit

  • Identify the numbered section on the canvas that matches the colour in your paint set.

  • Dip your preferred brush into the paint, making sure to coat the bristles evenly.

  • Start painting the numbered section on the canvas that matches the colour you have chosen. You should cover the area marked and go slightly over the lines so there is no gap between areas of the painting.

  • Some sections may require multiple layers of paint for a smoother and more vibrant finish. We recommend allowing each layer to dry completely before applying the next one.

  • Once the paint is dry, your masterpiece is ready to be displayed! If you haven’t already, click the DIY wooden frame together and stretch your canvas over the frame so you can then hang it on your wall or prop it up on an easel to show it off. You’ll be so proud to display your beautiful work of art and share it with friends and family!

How To Clean Your Brushes

To clean your brushes, simply dip them into your jar of water and stir it around. You’ll then use a paper towel or rag to gently wipe the brush dry, working along the bristles of the brush to keep them smooth.

Insider Tips

  • If you need some guidance, refer to the number reference sheet. This will help you identify any numbers that might be difficult to read on the canvas and show you what the painting is supposed to look like at the end of the process.

  • As a general rule, it’s recommended to begin painting with the lightest colours first as these are easier to cover if you accidentally paint over them with darker colours later.

  • Use the different brush sizes to cover broad and fine areas. For example, if a section is too small or intricate, use a smaller brush for better control.

  • If you find that some of the paints are too thick, mix in a drop of water to dilute the paint but try not to use too much so the color keeps its vibrancy.

  • Clean your brushes thoroughly when switching colours to prevent unwanted mixing. Don’t forget that there are no rules when it comes to your masterpiece, this is your painting and you can do what you like with it so mix away sister!

  • When you are not using the paints make sure that the lids are properly closed so that they do not dry up. When you close them, there should be a satisfying click!

  • Instead of painting the entire canvas in one go, work on smaller sections at a time. This helps you focus on the details, prevents smudging of wet paint and means you can enjoy the process.
